Week 6 report Custodes (Mike) Victory against Necrons (Rob)

The Auric Dawn shield company touched down in the ruined landscape of a former imperial settlement that had been reduced to crumbling ruins. The invading Necron force was still in place and ready for the expected attack. The Necrons immediately began bombarding the Custodian forces as they circled into position to advance. Many custodians were lost in the first volleys, before they could land a single blow, but Shield Captain Aurelius and his flanking forces charged straight towards the main fighting force of Lychguard, bolter fire pummeling and wiping out the flanking squads of immortals as they advanced. The lychguard fell to guardian spears, only to rise back up from the rubble and strike back, slowly thinning the ranks of the Custodian guards that held the front line until Aurelius broke through to the gunline behind them. Once through, he set his remaining guard squad on their fire support, quickly cutting off the main fighting force of lychguard as Captain General Trajann Valoris held the line against them single handedly.

Both forces had fought brutally to the end, making it impossible to hold the upper hand against the other for long. Eventually, simple attrition led to the Custodes claiming victory as they continued to hold position of strategic importance across the battlefield. A glorious and hard fought victory was achieved for the Imperial forces
